Body Mass Index (BMI)

BMI or Body Mass Index is a commonly used way of assessing how healthy a person’s weight is. It takes account of the person’s height and weight, and because we all come in different shapes and sizes, BMI is assessed in a range.

A BMI higher than the recommended range means the person is overweight for their height. A BMI lower than the recommended range means the person is underweight for their height.
